REGISTRATION DETAILS & UPDATES

Hello friends!

The dates are set for WHSH 2011! September 10th-17th!

Work Hard/ Stay Hard is organized by non-Ida residents as a work party to support and improve the physical infrastructures at Ida. It is a heartfelt gift of our labor, funds and joy to make life just a lil bit easier for Ida’s full time residents.  It is also an investment in a queer community space that rejuvenates and sustains many of us year after year it’s about putting our money where our backs where our mouths are when we say ‘community’; a lived love letter, written in sweat.

We’re cutting off registration at 100 people, so make sure you fill out this registration form soon.

There are many exciting projects planned for this year, with a concentrated focus on both the front barn (a roof!) and the back barn (keep it standing!).  Other proposed projects include a spring water catchment system for the back house, clearing for an orchard, and improving the swimming hole.  The work is divided into about twelve distinct crews with an intention towards skill-sharing. More information coming soon.

If you have any questions or want to get more involved, do please drop us a line at workhardstayhard@gmail.com

Yours Truly,

Annie and Kills

Babes,

The week of Working Hard and Staying Hard is one month from today! Two big things to do:

  • if you haven’t sent registration money or let us know when to expect it — get in touch ASAP with workhardstayhard@gmail.com.   The attendee list is filling up, and we won’t be able to save spaces unless we get confirmation that you will be there.
  • don’t forget to check out the IDA RideShare Board
  • And whether you’re coming or not, please help to spread the word about this online fundraising campaign——————————-

Yesterday was the opening day of WHSH 2011 and after a week of set-up, the place is looking great. The barn roof is a lattice of wooden beams with not a shred of metal — ready for the re-roofing crew, and surrounded by signs marking the hard-hat area. The lawns are mowed, the poison ivy is cleared, the front house got a great cleaning, the food is glorious, and last night we held the 2nd annual Orientationtime Wonderfun PartyShow followed by a mixer/meet & greet organized by the Party Patrol. There’s about 70 folks here already and we expect to reach the full 100 over the course of the week!

Thank you so much to all who have donated already — we’ve raised $15,000! We crossed our IndieGoGo goal of $2,500 with time to spare, brought in about $2,000 from benefit events around the country, and received over $10,000 from registration and other donations!

We still have a little more to go to meet our budget needs. We did some re-organizing and dropped our expenses from $21k to $18,000 and as of today, so we’re about $3,000 from our goal. It’s not too late to donate to the online campaign at IndieGoGo (till 9/15!) or give directly via paypal up there in the top right corner! Every little bit counts and we need it!

Thanks to all the lovers and supporters of WHSH and IDA! Things are looking great and stay tuned for more updates coming soon!
